Sita-Ji, Apunbindaas and I have all commented on certain fight scenes that involve small children, and how NOT to treat them. Here is another example taken during the Telugu film “Bunny”:

American Movie Review: Resident Evil Afterlife

Where do I begin? I had so many thoughts about this film on my way home and when I signed on to twitter I almost blurt them all out, but reserved myself, only to forget most of it now. First off, I was interested in seeing Mika Nakashima. I’d heard that she’s the first of the infected shown in the film, therefore, she obviously dies quickly in story line. She may have only been in the movie for 1 minute or so, but OH, what a minute! Since I saw it in 3D, the SUPER long pan of her in the rainy Shibuya crossing was beautiful and then:

NOM!

That was pretty much about it for her. But, maybe it will garner some international attention for her and we’ll get to see more of her here. I was very glad they finally traveled to Japan in this installment, considering that is where the games are created. A fun tid-bit for the more casual RE fan, it’s actually called Bio-Hazard in Japan! After a few minutes of Wesker boringness, be get to see the multiple Alice’s kick some butt:

Plus, there’s a few of them:

3 Millas! (Actually there were like 30-40 of em)

This scene was pretty awesome. It reminded me of Ninja Assassin, I’m glad THAT movie was not in 3D! Speaking of 3D, it’s cool in certain moments, but it’s very over-rated and I had a headache afterwards. I like being able to focus on whatever I want to in the scene, and it forces your attention to only certain parts of the scene. Some parts are really cool – there’s a scene in the beginning where they slow things down as Alice and Wesker are falling in a helicopter that was pretty awesome.

Then, they kill Tokyo.

I was thinking at the moment, aw, they always destroy Tokyo in movies, the poor Japanese people having to see this. I hope no one who survived Hiroshima and Nagasaki see this… Some stuff goes down in the interaction between Wesker and Alice, that I’ll leave out. But, the dud who plays Wesker was pretty stiff. I know that’s what the game character is like and all, but you could have added a LITTLE spark to the character dude, we don’t need to feel like we’re watching a movie scene in a game.

Brr!

We head to the location mentioned in the previous RE movie: Acadia, Alaska. Where we’re re-united with Claire Redfield. I’m glad they gave Ali Larter more to work with this time around and she breathed some life into the character.

I like her as a red-head.

They wander off to find more survivers and come across a rag-tag group of folks hunkered down in Hollywood. It was easy to pick out who was going to die first for me – is that a sad fact of my existence? That I’m so used to horror films I know who will be the first to get picked off? Who knows. Maybe. But we advance in the story, and what comes next?

It's Chris Redfield! Yay!

He and Leon have been my favorite game characters, and I SO glad they finally put him on the big-screen. Wentworth Miller did a good job of playing Chris. I think his hair could have been a little longer, but I was happy with his performance. I think he might have played the game and gotten an idea of what the character would be like, but also making Chris his own a little.

I’m also glad they decided to add some of the non-zombie creatures from the games too. The Plaga Zombies (zombies with four teeth filled bits wiggling around out of their mouths) show up, reminding me of Resident Evil 4 (The game.) Not to mention, THIS GUY:

I don’t think he really exists in the games, but I’m pretty sure I recognize him…

Oh yeah, Pyramid Head from Silent Hill (Horrible movie btw - great game tho)

There’s a new character on the scene, and his name is Luther West played by Boris Kodjoe. He’s very charismatic and has a few tricks up his sleeve…

Was there attraction between him and Alice or am I mistaken?

I was a little disappointed with the ending. I thought this would be the ending, but they left it WAAAAAY open ended again. ::sigh:: But, this installment strengthened my love of the series. The third one, Resident Evil: Extinction was a let down for me. I still own it, and bought special edition DVD that came with a free Resident Evil bag, but I wasn’t a huge fan of it. But, this one had me giggling like a school girl over many little facts that others didn’t understand and I was over-all very happy with the final product. 3D headache aside I give this an 8.5 out of 10! That EDC is back, bitches? Oh, man, this made my week. I found out his blog has been re-instated and he’s been posting since November. I’m so happy. I’ve always loved and supported Edison, even when other condemned him, or I’ve had people look down on me for being a fan, I never cared. He’s funny and charismatic, not to mention highly talented in creating great clothing and fun toys. One day, I’ll be able to afford something of his. For now, I’ll be satisfied checking his blog each day and being quietly entertained. Hopefully, there is a cd in the works. Did you know he was in The Dark Knight? That was the biggest surprise to me, since it wasn’t reported or put out there at all. I was watching it and did a double take thinking “Was that EDC?” Rewind. Pause. Yes, yes it was! That was pretty much all I saw or heard about him in the last three years which really made me sad. Things that happened weren’t his fault and it wasn’t something he asked for, but he had the guts to face people and take the blame. But, I just think having to leave for so long was too tough of a punishment. I just hope he took the time “off” to regroup and that he comes back stronger than ever. From the looks of the product coming out of CLOT these days, he might just be starting to do that. Stay tuned, and I’ll keep you updated! Or you can check him out for yourself: Here!

I feel like I’ve been neglecting my child here on Daydreaming Lotus. But, alas, I still have no internet at home. I am planning to change that before September when Rains’ new drama is due out, so I can watch him in the comfort of my own home. I also plan on purchasing a new computer that will make things a lot easier as my current one is dying. Until then folks – hang in there! I have plans of starting a podcast, regular reviews with optional downloads and more fun goodies (I have a pile of things that are growing for good give-aways) Until then, hopefully the few people who read my blog stand-by!

So, I know I haven’t posted anything in awhile. I’ve been busy, and to be perfectly honest, it’s a pain in the butt to get things together and post without an internet connection at home. But, I find myself needing to share a little with anyone who’s willing to listen. I’m always on the lookout for new music. I love rock music, and Korean music, but together they are a rare occurrence since most of the great rock from Korea tends to be underground because the pop scene is so huge in Korea. Even more rare, are talented female rock artists in Korea. But, I have found a new one. They are called 친절한 밴드 or “Friendly Band” They have a great punk feel to them and are categorized as “Indie Rock” – mostly due to the fact that rock is typically indie in Korea in the first place. The members include Wu-Ki Yang (Leader and main vocals) Ha Jong-Hee as the guitarist, Shi Eun-Ja on drums and rounding it out is Kana on bass. I really enjoy the two mini-albums I’ve got from them and I hope to hear more from them in the future. I wish we could see great musicians like this on Mnet, music bank and the like, but for now we get the pop artists (which I do love btw) You can check out a cute clip of them here on youtube:

Random promotion: Asian Pop Addict

Ok, so little while back, I stumbled across this random podcast. It’s from three girls in Miami doing their thing and just loving (or hating) Asian pop culture. Sweet. Not only are they well informed (do they really get to live with all the current news they keep up with, or do they have the internet streaming in front of their eyes all the time?), they have great personalities and are open minded. I’ve only been able to catch a few episodes, but I plan on starting from the beginning. I kind of feel like they’re my friends even though we haven’t met (yet.) The basics of the show are pretty simple, the three of them get together and talk K-Pop and J-Pop news (a few bits from China are thrown in and this last week there was a little Bollywood love thrown in there ((Yay)), teach you a few phrases in Korean and jam down to some music. If you’re looking for a way to stay connected to the Asian pop scene and don’t have the time to always be searching for news, this might be the way for you. The shows are a little on the long side, about 3-4 hours or so, but it’s great fun. I listen while I’m at work, and since I can have my iPod on all day they help the days go by a lot faster. Check them out!

DBSK – is this the end?

In light of their recent lawsuits, the great Dong Ban Shin Ki (DBSK/TVSQ/Whatever you like to call them) have halted ALL their group activities. I think this is sad. While, I can only point out and name one of the members, I do have all of their albums and am a fan of theirs. They have amazing voices and can harmonize like nobodies business. I find it disappointing that the contract with their producers/managers are causing the group to suffer and their fans along with them. I love Korea and all their amazing musicians, what I don’t like are the horrible contracts they are forced to work under and the conditions that they have to put up with. The word is that it’s just temporary, but the break that N’Sync took years ago turned into an un-official break-up. I just hope that this doesn’t have to DBSK. For more info check out this.

K-Album Review: A.Tract – 1st Maxi Single

I happened across this band while I was searching for some Korean music that’s NOT pop/dance/hip-hop. Of course, I’m already a fan of Yoon Do-Hyun Band, San-Ul-Lim and other great rock bands, but I always keep my eyes open for new ones and here’s a winner. A.Tract. Or A-Tract. Whichever. They use both. The average age of this band? Seventeen and a half. But you’d never know it by listening to their music. For Korea, they have a very fresh sound and I was pleasantly surprised by their album.

Track 1: It’s Over – Powerful rock song.

Track 2: 이별 애 (Goodbye Girl )(哀) – Beautiful rock ballad. Great hook and the vocals are spot-on.

Track 3: Rain – Another power rock song. Reminds me of Three Days Grace.

Track 4: Good-Bye – They slowed it down a little again here. Apparently their first single. I hope they catch on in Korea, because I would love to hear more from them – and soon!

The best part about these guys is that they play all their own instruments as well as compose their own music. While not unusual here in the US, this is a rarity in most popular groups in Korea – I love them all, but they’re way over-produced and can become quite unoriginal. I’m going to stay tuned to them, and I hope you do too!
